Daren started dancing when she was 2 years old. She was a cheerleader all through Middle & High School and that is where she developed her interest in Hip Hop. Her high school coach was Coach Steve, who is still actively teaching in Baton Rouge & worked with Brittany Spears earlier in her career. She graduated from Redemptorist High School in 1991. She was Southeastern Louisiana University Lionette. She was also a finalist for the Saintsaitions Dance Team but decided to get married instead. She started teaching at BREC Parks in 1996 and began teaching locally in 1999. She volunteered at the 2016 Louisiana Miss Amazing Pageant designed for young ladies who need additional assistance in their activities. She been married for over 24 years to Dan. They have two sons, Zach & Brayden. They are members of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Daren's mission is to expand the performing arts awareness in her community. It's very important that anyone needing extra assistance in class know that there is a home for them at Serenity. When she's not at Serenity you will find her at her salon, Avenue Allure, located in the Denham Springs Antique Village. She opened the salon in 2018. Being in the center of town, has opened even more opportunities for Serenity. She has formed a collaboration with members of the Spotlight Theater Players and looks forward to working with them at Serenity.
Carmen started dancing at a very young age and has trained with multiple choreographers at many studios. She has been teaching for 5 years in all styles of dance. She was a Golden Wildcat for 2 years in high school, where her and her team placed 1st at the American All-Star Dance Team state competition. She is a Walker High School graduate and is continuing her education in pre-med at Louisiana State University. When she is not dancing she is furthering her education in the medical field. She has completed many career exploration programs and is a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant. She has competed in local, state, and national pageants such as, Miss Louisiana’s Outstanding Teen, where she received the Congeniality Award. She believes giving back to the community is vital and has volunteered at places such as the, Walker Animal Shelter, Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank, Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Louisiana Miss Amazing Pageant, Young Artists’ Academy of Denham Springs, Shriner’s Hospital for Children, and Leaps and Bounds Summer Camp. Carmen is very passionate about dance and is very excited to be reunited with her Serenity family.
My name is Mallory Frizell. I am a Junior at Denham Springs High School. I have been on the Jackette dance team for four years and I have been in dance for a total of 14 years. I am a member of the Key Club and Reach Club at DSHS. I love dancing and love watching people grow not only as a dancer but as a person! I also enjoy fishing, spending time with friends and family, shopping, and going to the beach. I am a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. After graduation my plans are to attend LSU.
Mr. Danny began singing at a very young age. Being the youngest of 4 brothers & lead singer of their band, LesBousCru. His first appearance on stage was in Junior High and he is still singing today. His range varies from baritone to high falsetto. The strengths he brings to our vocal lessons are breathing techniques, head positioning, and overcoming the fear of live performance. He was also a voluntary head football coach for local kids and the current entertainment chairman for the annual ICC Church Fair.
Miss Marisa has been with the Serenity Family since she was a little girl. She has extensive dance training and is the first staff member to graduate from our Junior Choreographer Program. She spent the last three years working as a class demonstrator and Abilities Jr. Choreographer. We are proud to announce she is now the Abilities Program Choreographer. We're excited to see how she develops this and other programs.
Marisa was recently selected as a member of the Serenity Project Competition Team and Assistant to Mrs. Crystal and the Theater Department.
MaKayla has been dancing since 2014. She began her dance career on a competitive team right from the beginning. Winning 2 first place trophies while dancing at Leaps and bounds. She was a 2016 Graduate of Walker High School also in 2016 she began teaching dance while continuing her own knowledge and skills in other types of dance. Unfortunately, MaKayla life took a turn where she was medically unable to dance for a while. During this time she attended BRCC for marketing and Bob Brooks retail estate school. Her love and passion for dance never left she says she took this time to perfect her craft and develop a deeper love for the art. After returning seeing how far SAPA has come she started right back up again teaching and learning the art of dance. Now MaKayla spends her time Marketing and Choreographing for Serenity. She recently started to attend a cosmetology school Denham Springs beauty college. MaKayla has always wanted to do anything she could and looks forward to meet your children at Serenity.
Miss Daelynn Is a 2020 graduate of Denham High School. She's been dancing for over 15 years and a SAPA instructor since 2019. Miss Daelynn is a former cheerleader and soccer player. She's also been in beauty pageants. Daelynn also enjoys volunteer work with Christ Community Church.
CRYSTAL is a versatile artist who is proud to call Louisiana home and is ecstatic to begin her journey with the Serenity family! She is whole-heartedly passionate about creating, educating, entertaining, and inspiring through dance. With over 25 years of experience, most of which as a competitive dancer and educator, she has earned numerous high scoring and overall awards, scholarships for dance and theater, and titles, including Pro Miss NYLA, and now specializes in musical theater, jazz, hip hop, contemporary, and improvisation. She earned her performing arts degree from Southeastern Louisiana University and has continued to work with the dance and theater programs as an alumna the last several years. As a performer and choreographer, she has been featured and involved in an array of productions, special events, charity events, festivals, Mardi Gras balls, pageants, and more! Schayot has worked with studios and groups across the U.S. and abroad, notable choreographers such as Ray Leeper, and even danced her way into the Guinness Book of World Records in Riverdance: The Longest Line Dublin, Ireland. During her time abroad, she even had the opportunity to train at the Globe Theater and Pineapple Dance Studios in London. She is a core member and principal dancer for The Breakthrough Outreach & Performance Company with which she has traveled to New York and Guatemala to train, teach, and perform, and share the love of dance! She currently tours and works with NYLA Dance Conventions & Competitions as a competitive judge, master class instructor, photographer, and now emcee! This summer, she plans to return as a guest artist to the Anchorage Classical Ballet Academy for their annual production of Dance Under the Midnight Sun.
She has appeared in various forms of print, music videos, movies and tv shows such as So You Think You Can Dance, NCIS: New Orleans, Claws, and Your Honor. Look for her in the upcoming films Bill & Ted 3, All My Life, and C’mon, C’mon. She was crowned Miss New Orleans National Model USA and works with Teen & Miss Louisiana contestants as a coach and choreographer. Schayot is the proud artistic director and creator of The Wicked Little Voodoo Dolls Dance & Variety Entertainment & Performance Company, along with the PRISM Dance Productions YouTube channel. As an avid visual artist and certified instructor, she created a name for herself as Works of the Muse, as a photographer through Crystal Clear Photographie, and as a costume designer through Crystal Fleur de Couture. She is incredibly grateful to be living out her dreams and continuing her growth, progress, and inspiration as a performer, choreographer, educator, and all around artist.
With over a decade of training in the Classical Russian Vaganova method of Ballet, Emily Randon has studied under many of the world’s most renowned ballet instructors. Over the years, Emily has gained acceptance into prestigious ballet programs across the nation including the Atlanta Ballet in Georgia and the Joffrey Ballet in New York City. Emily has also had the privilege of taking her ballet training abroad to study at The Centre de Danse du Marais in Paris, France. Upon her return to the states, Emily began working as a mentor for The American Ballet Theatre. In 2012, Emily stepped into the film industry and has since appeared in movies and commercials including her recent role as “ballerina” in a national television ad for Baby Bottle Pop Candy. For the past eight years, Emily has enjoyed working as an energetic and passionate ballet instructor and currently teaches hundreds students on a weekly basis. Emily is certified in Progressing Ballet Technique and uses her degree in Kinesiology Exercise Science to incorporate elements of dance science into her lesson plans. Many of Emily’s students have advanced into prominent dance programs across the United States including School of American Ballet and Julliard. In her free time, Emily enjoys guest performing and choreographing for several community outreach programs. Emily has aspirations of obtaining a doctorate in Kinesiology with a concentration in Dance Science.
Meg Walker has been involved in dance since the age two. She has trained with Jean Leigh Academy of Dance, Trudie Osterberger, Phyllis Guy, and the American Musical & Dramatic Academy in New York City. She has performed with the Baton Rouge Ballet Theater, the Hammond Ballet Company, the Tri-Parish Ballet Company, and Storytellers Dance Project of New Orleans. Her teaching experience includes 4 years as lead choreographer for The Dance Company and 1 year assisting at Fellom Ballet School.. She served as the director of dance for 5 years, at Leaps & Bounds Sports Center, where she taught, choreographed, directed and produced a total of 12 theatrical productions. Her theatrical background includes musical theater & film. She has also studied voice and drama. She has worked in the film industry as an extra & was cast in 3 independent films produced by a Los Angeles film company. She assisted as choreographer in Playmaker’s of Baton Rouge’s 2016 summer production of “Cinderella: the Tale of the Glass Slipper”. She has volunteered as the dance instructor at Young Artists’ Academy who provides classes in piano, drums, vocal, art, dance, finances, exercise, & cooking for financially disadvantaged children and their families in the her community. In 2020, she stepped away from SAPA & enjoys taking care of her beautiful family and pursuing educational opportunities that will enhance her theater experience. The students of Serenity wishes her love until she graces the stage again.
